Jadlog opens a state-of-the-art logistics hub

Jadlog has opened a state-of-the-art logistics centre, marking a historic milestone by doubling its capacity and speeding up deliveries across the country. This is the company’s largest investment in 20 years.

Geopost subsidiary Jadlog, a leading player in less-than-truckload (LTL) transport for the e-commerce and B2B markets in Brazil, opened its new logistics centre in São Paulo on 7 May.

Located in the Perus district, this new state-of-the-art hub enables Jadlog to double its parcel processing capacity and represents the company’s largest investment in 20 years. The project involves an investment of over 100 million reais (approximately 17 million euros), the largest ever made by the company in 20 years. The new facility incorporates state-of-the-art technology and equipment, including a 310-metre-long sorter, as well as artificial intelligence solutions deployed at various stages of the sorting process

‘Our volumes have increased tenfold since Geopost acquired Jadlog in 2016,’ says Bruno Tortorello, CEO of Jadlog. ‘We are now making the largest investment in our history to expand our facilities, boost our operational capacity and integrate the latest technologies.’

This new site will enable Jadlog to achieve high intralogistics standards and enhance the efficiency of its national distribution network, which comprises more than 500 franchises, 17 branches and a Pickup network of 4,000 local partner collection points. Covering an area of approximately 20,000 m², the hub comprises 87 loading bays, nearly 2,000 m² of mezzanine office space and 5,000 m² dedicated to support functions. The new sorter, a piece of equipment that automates the sorting of goods, can handle parcels weighing up to 35 kg. Designed to operate at high speed, it is capable of processing tens of thousands of parcels per hour, significantly improving productivity whilst reducing errors and rework.

Key features include a high level of automation, high precision in parcel scanning and sorting, flexible configuration, and full integration with Jadlog’s management systems. “The use of the new conveyors and the automated sorting system will significantly increase the volume of parcels processed per hour, thereby doubling current capacity,” notes Bruno Tortorello.

According to Jadlog’s CEO, automation helps eliminate bottlenecks in internal flows and ensures more consistent, faster and more predictable operations, particularly during peak periods such as Black Friday.

A real driver of regional development

The new facility will expand the company’s logistics capacity and act as a real driver of regional development. The project is expected to create operational jobs and boost local trade, thereby helping to strengthen the region’s infrastructure. Jadlog already has a strong market presence, with over 3,000 direct employees.

‘This investment demonstrates our commitment to both operational efficiency for our customers and the development of the regions where we operate. By expanding our network, we are creating real employment opportunities and boosting the entire local value chain, thereby reaffirming the economic and social role that Jadlog has played in Brazil for nearly two decades,’ says Bruno Tortorello.

The project will directly help to reduce delivery times in the B2C and B2B segments by speeding up sorting and dispatch operations. This will improve overall lead times, with faster deliveries and greater predictability.

A state-of-the-art hub

The hub relies on a range of advanced technologies, including high-speed scanners, automatic code-reading systems and computer vision solutions. These tools help to improve sorting accuracy, speed up operations and reduce errors.

Artificial intelligence and digitalisation tools further enhance these capabilities, with applications ranging from parcel scanning and data analysis to decision support, flow balancing and demand forecasting.

The entire system is managed by state-of-the-art WMS systems, connected to Jadlog’s systems, ensuring real-time monitoring, full traceability and continuous optimisation of operations.

Designed to align with the sustainable development strategy of Jadlog and its parent company Geopost, the new hub incorporates infrastructure aimed at minimising its environmental impact, optimising resource use and reducing emissions.

The site is equipped with high-efficiency LED lighting, automated energy consumption monitoring systems and equipment designed to improve energy efficiency. It has also been designed to support the gradual expansion of Jadlog’s electric vehicle fleet. The hub implements responsible waste management practices, with a particular focus on waste sorting, material recycling, the reuse of packaging and the reduction of plastic use.

Its design also incorporates solutions that promote sustainable water management, through measures aimed at reducing consumption and enabling reuse wherever possible. Thanks to these initiatives, Jadlog is in the process of obtaining LEED certification, which recognises the environmental and sustainable performance of this new site.
